All About Darwin K. Eldridge
I am a native of Woodlawn, was educated in the public schools of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. I completed further studies at Murray (KY) State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting and the Master's of Business Administration (MBA). I am licensed in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky as a Certified Public Accountant.
I am employed by the Internal Revenue Service, Nashville, TN as a Supervisory Internal Revenue Agent and have been employed by the IRS since May 1983. In addition to my duties as a manager, I instructs several leadership courses for IRS managers.
I attend the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakwood, Tennessee. I am currently serving as a Steward, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Church Program Coordinator, Senior Choir Member, member of the Local Lay Organization, and Sunday School Teacher.
I am a member of the Tennessee Conference and 13th Episcopal District Lay Organizations of the AME Church. In July 2001, I was elected to the position of Financial Secretary for the Connectional (International) Lay Organization of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (CLO-AMEC) at the 27th Session of the Lay Biennial in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2009, I was elected the International Treasurer of the CLO-AMEC.
I have a great sense of community pride. I serves or have served as Chairman of the American Red Cross of Clarksville-Montgomery County; the Tennessee State Service Council of the American Red Cross; Chairman, Tennessee 4-H Alumni Association; Vice-President, Murray State University Alumni Association; Murray State University College of Business and Public Affairs Alumni Society; Board of Directors and Budget and Allocation Committee for the United Way of Clarksville-Montgomery, as well as its Executive Committee; United Way Cumberland Society; Blue Ribbon Education Committee for the Clarksville Montgomery County School System; Board of Trustees of Leadership Clarksville; Board of Managers of the Clarksville Area YMCA; Clarksville Sunrise Rotary; Second Vice President and First Vice President of the Clarksville Jaycees; Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce; the Association for the Advancement of Minorities in the IRS; Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Child Advocacy Center.
I holds several honors including the National Speak-up Winner, an honor bestowed upon me at the Ten Outstanding Young Americans Conference of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC.
My motto for life is based in scriptures, “In all things, give thanks!”
